Female Sexual Health Screening and Smears
Smears will be performed using liquid based cytology (LBC). All patients requesting a smear will be offered testing at the same time for Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
HPV is responsible for the majority of cases of cervical cancer. LBC is the latest method of taking a smear. Performed in a similar way to a conventional smear except that instead of smearing the sample onto a slide, material is taken from a sampling brush into a vial of preserving fluid.
Benefits: Improved detection abnormal cells and reduction inadequate smears.
HPV & CERVICAL SMEARS VIA LIQUID BASED CYTOLOGY
Patients found to be cervical smear negative but HPV high risk DNA positive-will have both tests repeated in 6-12 months. Those with persistent high risk HPV will be advised of need for gynaecology review for consideration of colposcopy.

FEMALE SEXUAL HEALTH SCREEN
Test 1 Chlamydia N Gonorrhoea via urine or swab
Test 2 High Vaginal Swab -for lower tract genital infections including ( Mycoplasma/ Ureaplasma)
Test 3 Swab or first catch urine sample for Herpes 1/2 by PCR if clinically indicated.
Test 4 Blood test- VDRL (Syphilis) and Hepatitis B Surface Antigen and HIV antibodies 1 and 2. Hepatitis C antibody test.
Cost £295 includes initial consultation and all tests and follow up consultation for results. Results can be alternatively given via telephone consultation. Results 48 hours.
PARTIAL FEMALE SEXUAL HEALTH SCREEN
No blood test
Testing for Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea/HPV via liquid based cytology.

CHLAMYDIA/GONORRHOEA
Testing can be done via urine sample or swab. First catch urine sample. First 10mls collected. Ideally should not pass urine at least 3 hours prior to testing. Charge £100 includes consultation. Results available 48 hours.
Gardasil is a non-infectious vaccine which helps prevent diseases caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) types ( 6,11,16 and 18):-
Cervical Cancer / Genital Warts / Pre-cancerous lesions of cervix, vagina and vulva
HPV is a common virus. Many people with HPV have no symptoms and can pass it on to others. Types 6,11,16 and 18 cause aprox 70% of cases of cervical cancer and 90% of genital warts.
Vaccine works best when given before you have contracted HPV.
Suitable for girls/women aged 9-26
How is Gardasil given?
3 doses are needed via an intramuscularly injection:
Dose 1 - at your chosen date.
Dose 2 - Two months after first dose
Dose 3 - Six months after first dose
